Your safety is the top priority. Seek medical attention, even if you don’t feel seriously injured — some injuries appear later. If possible, document the scene with photos, gather contact information from witnesses, and report the incident to the proper authorities. Then, contact an experienced personal injury attorney to discuss your options.
Most personal injury attorneys work on a contingency fee basis, which means you pay nothing upfront. The attorney only gets paid if they recover compensation for you, typically as a percentage of your settlement or verdict.
Compensation, also known as damages, can include medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, property damage, and future medical care. Every case is unique, and an attorney can help you understand what you may be entitled to based on your situation.
Never accept a settlement without speaking to a personal injury attorney first. Insurance companies often offer lowball amounts hoping to resolve claims quickly and cheaply. An attorney can evaluate whether the offer fairly covers your medical bills, lost income, and other damages.
Medical malpractice occurs when a healthcare provider’s negligence causes injury or harm to a patient. This can include surgical errors, misdiagnosis, medication mistakes, or failure to properly treat a condition. These cases are complex and require expert medical testimony to establish negligence.
A wrongful death claim is brought when someone’s negligence or misconduct causes another person’s death. In Florida, the personal representative of the deceased’s estate can file the claim on behalf of surviving family members, seeking compensation for things like funeral costs, lost income, and emotional suffering.
